Reef Marine Biology instructor Mike King recently sent three students to the University of Miami’s Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science research project in Bimini, Bahamas. Eleventh grader Nakita Domacena Austin along with seniors Kevin Scott Bernhardt and Daniel José Hernandez participated “hands-on” in  marine field studies under the direction of Dr. Samuel H. Gruber. The trio tracked lagoon sharks, collected and charted data, prepared equipment, helped maintain the boats and did a little cooking. Nakita is a member of the Legal  Public Affairs Academy; Kevin is an International Baccalaureate Diploma Candidate and Daniel is in the Reef’s Agriscience and Engineering Technology Academy.
