Students in the Agriscience strand will explore the field of Agricultural Biotechnology while learning about non-traditional propagation methods of plants and husbandry of small animals. As they move into their junior and senior year in the curriculum sequence, students will have an opportunity to choose a career path in Plant Biotechnology or Animal Biotechnology. Research partnerships with the United States Department of Agriculture will enable students to participate in summer internships and conduct research on rare and native tropical plant and animal species impacting the industry. Through their participation in the National FFA Organization, students will have opportunities to develop their leadership and professional development skills.
Students study in one of the two strands: the Agriscience strand or the Engineering Technology Strand. Agriscience students explore the areas of Agribusiness, Plant and Animal Biotechnology, and Environmental Resources while leaning about agronomy, horticulture, forestry, entomology, aquatics, environmental science, and mechanical technology. Engineering Technology students explore communications technology, drafting, design, environmental studies, electric and electronics, laser, fiber optics, computer foundations, and video production. Acceptance is determined by the random selection process.
