The arts are a dynamic presence in our daily lives, enabling us to express our creativity while challenging our intellect. Through the arts, children have a unique means of expression that captures their passions and emotions and allows them to explore ideas, subject matter, and culture in delightfully different ways. Achievement in the arts cultivates essential skills, such as problem solving, creative thinking, effective planning, time management, teamwork, effective communication, and an understanding of technology.
Students apply artistic processes and skills, using a variety of media to communicate meaning and intent in original works of art.
Students apply skills in acting, directing, designing, and writing to create formal and informal theatre, film/videos and to perform in them.
Students demonstrate movement skills, process sensory information, and describe movement, using the vocabulary of dance.
Develop a background in music and musicianship that prepares them for a wide range of activities that include music as a component.
Sing a repertoire of vocal literature representing various genre and styles, with expression, technical accuracy, tone quality, and articulation
Create melodic and rhythmic improvisations in a style or genre within a musical culture and perform in various small instrumental ensembles.
