Welcome to Legal & Public Affairs

Dear Parents,

On behalf of our teachers, Ms. Cushnie and Ms. Gonzalez and our counselor Ms. Martin, we would like to welcome you back to the 2018-2019 Greatest School on Earth. Our team has filled the year with new and exciting opportunities for our students.

The 2017-2018 school year was filled with great accomplishments; highest ALP passing rate yet again; variety of FPSA awards during National competition including 3rd place for overall Criminal Justice Operations Program; 2 of our students are State FPSA board members; several of our students were elected to Student Government. Our clubs continue to receive recognition by local agencies and represent our Academy through and through. Our Honor Guard including our flag detail continue to raise the standards.

This year we will continue to offer a plethora of clubs to join.  Our official Academy club is the Florida Public Service Association (FPSA) and our goal is to receive a 100% membership. The $10 fee will enable students to enter into competition in March and attend the leadership conference typically held in January. Each member will also receive a club shirt. FPSA reinforces the skills learned in our Criminal Justice program. Students further have opportunities to participate in We the People, Mock Trials and SADD. Ms. Cushnie will also lead the Honor Guard this year and Ms. Stuvel will lead the Mock Trial team. Look for information to come home for these clubs soon. We strongly encourage all students to participate in any of the above mentioned clubs.

In an effort to be able to better communicate with our entire Academy family, we have set up a Remind 101 account.  Attached you will find the flyer with instructions on how to join Remind101.

To conclude, we encourage ALL our Legal families to join the Legal Academy booster club. This year our board welcomed Mr. Jose Colon as our new booster President.  We will have a membership drive soon so look for information to be sent home. You can also purchase spirit and PT wear from them and information will be going home on that as well.  If you already volunteered for a position, please note that a mandatory meeting is taking place on Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2018 @ 6 pm in the auditorium.

We are excited for another year and if you have any thoughts or concerns, do not hesitate to contact us. On behalf of our entire team, I wish you a healthy and successful school year.
